AxizWorkgroup was formed in April 2011 when Axiz - a leading hardware distributor - and Workgroup - a powerful software distributor - joined forces to take their expertise and best-of-breed practices to the African market. 

Axiz, a leading distributor of world class hardware products as well as its own branded range, opened its doors in 1989. The company’s commitment to a strict channel-only policy was extended into the merger. 

Workgroup also started in 1989 when it was appointed as the first Microsoft distributor in South Africa. Workgroup was well known within the South African IT market as a successful specialist knowledge distributor of software and value-based hardware products. Workgroup’s core strength was rooted in being able to predict and integrate with its vendors and resellers' needs. Known for offering extensive dealer reach with on-going and consistent market penetration, Workgroup brought this key factor into the new entity.
